General Motors Defense & Hendrick Motor Sports
GM Defense is the military product subsidiary of General Motors, headquartered in Concord, North Carolina. It focuses on defense industry needs. Hendrick Motor Sports (HMS) is an American auto racing organization and manufacturer of the ISV (Infantry Squad Vehicle) chassis for GM Defense.
The Challenge
GM Defense and HMS brought the ISV chassis to Plant 72, Lippert's all-in-one coating facility, to E-coat and topcoat the unit. The GM Defense engineers had very specific requirements for running the units through Lippert’s system. Upon the initial trial there were significant drainage issues detected which would not be good for their product or 72’s system.
Results
With the changes made, the ISV chassis ran through the system with no issues on the next order, and GM Defense continues to be a strong partner for Lippert to this day.
